NICARAGUA: Liberals reunite to exclude Sandinistas from power

The opposition Sandinistas have been excluded from the shareout of posts in the leadership of the national assembly after a deal was cut between the liberals loyal to imprisoned former president Arnoldo Alemán and the those loyal to President Enrique Bolaños. The Sandinistas are up in arms. They claim that the US manipulated the result after US ambassador Barbara Moore arranged a meeting between the two groups of liberals in a Managua hotel.
