COLOMBIA: Sabre-rattling grows as referendum marks early campaigning

Colombia’s economy has seen better days and events in March did not exactly boost confidence for any meaningful improvement. On the contrary. In just a few weeks, international credit ratings agency Fitch put the country on a negative credit outlook, President Gustavo Petro lost his third finance minister, and his flagship labour reform was shot down in congress, prompting Petro to declare that he would put the reform directly to voters in a referendum.
