MEXICO: Gov’t seeks to soften blow of US automotive tariffs

Mexico’s government led by President Claudia Sheinbaum is likely breathing a sigh of relief after securing exemption from US President Donald Trump’s global tariff onslaught on 2 April. However, deep concerns still surround its automotive sector due to separate duties that threaten one of the country’s main sources of foreign currency.
