The mystery of Chinese car prices

Many industries experience periods of domestic over-production which leads them to dump excess production in export markets, a process widely condemned as a form of unfair competition. There is certainly evidence of excess production in China’s automobile sector, and many complaints of artificially low or subsidised prices. But it Is also true that Chinese companies are pricing their exports much higher than their domestic sales.
