ARGENTINA: Milei promises spending boost after election rout

After pushing draconian austerity measures for nearly half of his mandate, Argentina’s President Javier Milei has promised some relief for next year. On 15 September the libertarian economist said he plans to increase government spending as part of the 2026 budget, including above-inflation spending increases in healthcare, education, and pensions.
