Jeannette Jara, the presidential candidate for Chile’s ruling left-wing coalition from the Partido Comunista de Chile (PCCh), formally announced her programme of government on 6 October. Jara is leading the race for the first-round ballot due on 16 November, but the latest polls are still pointing firmly towards a right-wing victory in the second round, due on 14 December.
