BRAZIL: Uncertainties loom over COP30 conference
The government organised meetings in Brasília on 13-14 October attended by representatives from 67 countries which served as a precursor event to the United Nations climate change conference (COP30) which Brazil will host from 10-21 November. With around a month before the main conference in Belém, the capital of the northern state of Pará, the COP president, Brazilian diplomat André Corrêa do Lago, sought to reach a ‘pre-consensus’ for negotiations that will be finalised in Belém.
