BOLIVIA: Morales resurfaces

Bolivia’s former president Evo Morales (2006-2019), usually an inescapable presence in the country’s politics, disappeared from public view for over six weeks from early January. On 19 February he resurfaced in his stronghold of Chapare, Cochabamba department, where he called for a revival of his personalist political movement in next month’s regional and municipal elections.
