BRAZIL: Emboldened Bolsonaro holds rally in São Paulo

The far-right ‘Bolsonarismo’ movement held a demonstration in the city of São Paulo on 1 March which was attended by the movement’s contender for the 2026 presidential race, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Partido Liberal, PL), the eldest son of the convicted former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023). Recent pre-election polls have indicated a slump in the popularity of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who plans to run for re-election. The polling figures will have buoyed Flávio ahead of the rally.
