US declines to extend USMCA. The US has opted not to extend the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) for another 16 years, US Trade representative Jamieson Greer announced on 1 July. The decision was announced following a meeting between Greer, Mexico’s Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard, and Canada’s minister for US trade, Dominic LeBlanc. The deal will now enter a rolling annual review process while the three parties attempt to resolve their differences. At any point during this process, the countries can agree to extend the agreement for 16 years. Failing this, it will expire in 2036.
