Chile’s President José Antonio Kast is trying to overcome internal divisions within his ruling coalition. Kast held a meeting with the party presidents of all government-allied parties in La Moneda presidential palace on 3 July shortly after an attempt to push through a constitutional accusation, or impeachment, against the former finance minister Nicolás Grau in the left-wing administration of Gabriel Boric (2022-2026) was thrown out by the senate due to the opposition of the traditional right-wing Chile Vamos coalition [WR-26-26].
