Current account deficit decreases. The central bank (BCB) released the latest balance of payments figures on 28 July, showing that the country’s current account deficit in June stood at US$2.3bn, down from US$5.2bn in the same month last year. The accumulated current account deficit for the 12 months through June 2026 totalled US$61.4bn (2.46% of GDP), marking a decrease compared to US$64.2bn (2.60% of GDP) the previous month and US$75.5bn (3.52% of GDP) through June 2025. The trade balance of goods showed a monthly surplus of US$8.8bn, up from US$5.2bn in June 2025. Exports totalled US$36.4bn, up 24.8% year-on-year, while imports totalled US$27.6bn in June, marking a rise of 15.3%.
