BRAZIL: Homicides decline while other crimes rise

The think tank Fórum Brasileiro de Segurança Pública (FBSP) has released its annual crime report for 2025, which showed another yearly drop in homicides, with the country’s rate of violent deaths dropping to 19.1 killings per 100,000 people, the lowest figure since 2012. However, various other problems that security experts have long raised concern over are still on the rise, such as violence against women and police lethality.
