In brief: Brazil’s tax take rises in July

*The Receita Federal do Brasil (RFB), Brazil’s tax and customs authority, has released its latest figures on tax revenue, showing a total tax take of R$289.35bn (US$56.19bn) in July. This marks a real increase of 8.97% compared to July last year. The accumulated tax take from January-July this year totalled R$1.88tn, which is up 6.98% in real terms compared to the same period in 2025. In its latest monthly revenue report, the RFB highlighted a 5.50% real increase in social security contributions, which totalled R$64.22bn in July, as well as R$13.45bn in monthly revenue from withholding income tax (IRRF), which was up 29.47%. Federal revenue from corporate income tax (IRPJ) and social contributions on net profits (CSLL) totalled R$64.92bn, up 4.52% compared to July 2025.
