BRAZIL: TikTok owner fined over ineffective safeguards for minors
On 25 August Brazil’s national data protection agency (ANPD) imposed a fine of R$153.7m (US$29.85m) on Chinese tech firm ByteDance, which owns social media platform TikTok, for irregularities in its handling of the personal data of children and teenagers.
