CHILE: Environmental groups pile pressure on government

In Santiago and other major cities, environmental activists have carried out demonstrations to criticise the right-wing government of President José Antonio Kast for what they consider to be environmental setbacks. After Kast took office in March, he withdrew environmental decrees that were pending review, which prompted backlash from environmental groups. In August, NGOs such as Greenpeace continued to campaign and pile pressure on the Kast government to resubmit these environmental measures.
