BRAZIL: Brazil and France find common ground

Brazil's President Lula da Silva met French President Nicholas Sarkozy in the Amazonian border town of Saint Georges-de-l'Oiapock, French Guiana, on 12 February to discuss the strengthening of the "strategic alliance" between France and Brazil. Although the countries' military ties are probably the most important aspect of their relationship, there were many other issues on the agenda at the meeting between the two heads of state.
