Tracking Trends

GUATEMALA | Remittances may exceed forecast. Remittances by expatriate Guatemalans in the first seven months of the year reached US$1.69bn, just over two-thirds of what was received in the whole of 2004. The central bank has forecast that this year remittances will reach US$3bn. A straight projection of the present rate would almost meet that target but considering that there is usually a year-end upswing they may well exceed the mark.
