COLOMBIA: Government plans amnesty for crimes against humanity

The Colombian government has introduced a bill which, if passed, will protect those who have committed crimes against humanity in Colombia from facing jail terms. The move is motivated by Bogotá's desire to accelerate a peace process with the nation's largest paramilitary organisation, the Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC), but it could persuade other militant groups to enter into talks with the government.
