Peru's principal trade unions carried out their threat to stage a protest march in central Lima yesterday to demand changes in the government's economic policies. The march was convened by the powerful general confederation of workers of Peru (CGTP), and it attracted the participation of thousands of teachers, civil construction workers and left-wing social organisations.
