MEXICO-US: Agreement vs apprehension on the border

North of the Rio Grande the big positive event of the week was the 13 October meeting of US Attorney-General Alberto Gonzales and Mexican chief federal prosecutor Daniel Cabeza de Vaca, who came together to hammer out a joint response to criminal violence along the common border. South of the Rí­o Bravo (same river, different name) the big related event which provoked apprehension was the 14 October announcement of a state-level security drive by the governor of Texas.
