EL SALVADOR: Saca mulls sending more troops to Iraq

President Tony Saca is currently weighing up whether to send a further contingent of soldiers to Iraq. El Salvador sent 380 soldiers to Iraq in February for a six-month spell. On 21 June, Saca met the visiting head of the US Southern Command General James Hill in San Salvador to discuss the issue. Hill personally thanked Saca, who was sworn in on 1 June, for his decision to keep Salvadorean troops in Iraq.
