candidate for the governorship of Veracruz in 2010, turned on his patron, Elba
Esther Gordillo, this week. Gordillo is the hugely influential leader of the
Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación (SNTE, or teachers' union)
and the self-styled maker and breaker of presidents.
