The Mexican administration is reacting extraordinarily coolly to the growing Fast & Furious scandal in the US. The Republicans in both houses of congress sense that they can force at least one senior member of the administration led by President Barack Obama to resign over the misguided sting operation which allowed Mexican gangs to acquire 2,000 high-powered weapons. So far, the Republicans’ biggest scalp is that of Kenneth Melson, the acting head of the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) who has resigned and been reassigned.
