COLOMBIA: Far from a rosy picture

This week’s capture of ‘Martín Llanos’ (Héctor Germán Buitrado Parada) and his brother ‘Caballo’ (Nelson Orlando), two of Colombia’s most infamous paramilitary leaders, could not have come at a better moment. The government of President Juan Manuel Santos was facing increasing criticism over the upsurge in violence in the country’s south-west, where the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) led a series of terrorist attacks that left at least 16 dead and dozens seriously wounded.
