It was not the most conventional response to the news of an impending peace process – but then the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) is hardly a conventional political actor. The rap video posted on the Farc’s website this week to celebrate the peace talks with the Colombian government was accompanied by a more sober message from the guerrilla group’s leader, ‘Timochenko’ (Rodrigo Londoño Echeverri). President Juan Manuel Santos, meanwhile, revealed the names of his key representatives. These suggest he will leave no stone unturned in his quest for a peace accord.
