URUGUAY: Injecting youth into aging population

Uruguay is turning abroad to discover the elixir of youth. With an aging population - only 7% of Uruguayans are under five - the country is demographically challenged. Cabinet ministers are working together to relax immigration restrictions in order to allow Mercosur citizens to live and work in Uruguay with the hope of attracting young talent, the secretary to the presidency, Homero Guerrero, said in a statement after the first ministerial meeting of the year. The measure would apply to Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Paraguay.
