BOLIVIA: Constitutional court ends speculation

Bolivia’s plurinational constitutional court (TCP) has ruled in favour of allowing President Evo Morales and Vice-President Alvaro García Linera to run for a third term in 2014 presidential elections. This despite the fact that the 2009 constitution allows for just two consecutive presidential terms. The political opposition slammed the decision by the TCP, which of late had won plaudits for its apparent independence, as a sign of its subjugation to Morales and his ruling Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) government.
