MEXICO: Now, pressure on banks to lend more

With the Pacto de México only barely rescued from collapse, President Enrique Peña Nieto has unveiled another initiative formally supported by all main political parties: a ‘financial reform’ intended to coax banks into lending more, as a means of boosting growth. Support is not unreserved, but the parties have agreed to iron out the wrinkles in congress.
