BRAZIL: Unions and landless increase pressure on Lula

Trade unions and landless associations have started to increase the pressure on the government of President Lula da Silva, as the Brazilian economy slows down. The agitation could have not come at a worse time for the government, which is desperately trying to shore up employment and incomes - as well as maintain the political centre-ground - ahead of the general elections in 2010.
