The US Department of Justice has presented a note of protest to
Colombia over the “inconsistency" of the supreme court (CSJ) in extradition
matters. It called for the CSJ to “reconsider" its position after it declined to
extradite five members of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia
(Farc), including the two “jailers" of French-Colombian politician Ingrid
Betancourt and three US contractors captured during last July's rescue
operation, and three guerrillas from the Ejército de Liberación Nacional
