ECUADOR: Correa sworn in for second term

President Rafael Correa was inaugurated on 10 August under the new constitution, for a second term, only 31 months after his first term began. He promised to construct an “inclusive, mutually binding and fair" society, elevating human capital over financial capital, fighting corruption, and reforming the structures of state. He also, once again, expressed his determination to use his position as pro tempore president of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) to seek action against “media terrorism".
