The de facto government of Roberto Micheletti has succeeded in
pushing back the arrival of a mission sent by the Organization of American
States (OAS) to Honduras. The delaying tactic is part of its ploy to eke out the
time until elections are due in late November. Pressure from within, however,
could generate more pressure from outside, driving the intransigent de facto
authorities back to the negotiating table: demonstrators supporting the ousted
president Manuel Zelaya turned out in force in Tegucigalpa this week for the
