NICARAGUA: Another attack on civil society

The prominent civil society umbrella group, Coordinadora Civil (CC), announced this week that it was filing a complaint before the public prosecutor's office after its members were attacked by supporters of President Daniel Ortega and his ruling Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN) at its annual convention. The violence was condemned by government opponents and local human rights activists as the latest instance of political persecution against non FSLN-affiliated social movements.
