The opposition Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) has
made a representation against President Lula da Silva and his chosen political
heir, Dilma Rousseff, to the supreme electoral court. The PSDB accuses them of
premature campaigning, which is illegal under Brazilian law. The move follows a
very public spat, after the government announced it would launch a second phase
of its infrastructure investment programme (PAC). The opposition claims the PAC
is a mere “marketing package" to promote Rousseff, while Lula is using the
