URUGUAY | Exports surge. Exports increased by 24% to US$2.696bn in the first half of 2010 compared with the same period last year, according to official figures. Meat products accounted for 20% of total exports, followed by soya, 15% and cereals, 9%. One-third of Uruguay's exports go to Mercosur members (19% to Brazil alone), 17% to the European Union and just 6% to Nafta. Exports to China jumped 102%, making it Uruguay's fourth largest trade partner.
