Development: On 29 August, around 2,300 public schools in El Salvador (roughly 40% of the total) were closed, on the first of a two-day strike called by the country’s main teachers’ union, the Sindicato de Maestras y Maestros de Educación Pública de El Salvador (Simeduco).
