Barely a year after assuming office Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri has already decided to make some adjustments to his government’s economic policies and changes to his economic team. In a bid to alleviate some of the negative effects that the major ‘economic adjustment’ implemented by his government since assuming office in December 2015 has produced on Argentina’s domestic economy, Macri has opted to espouse a more gradual approach to rolling out economic reforms. But clearly there was no consensus for following such an approach within the government’s economic team, producing some departures.
