Uruguay’s Vázquez reaches out to ‘cincuentones’

Development: On 26 June, Uruguay’s President Tabaré Vázquez announced that his government will present a bill allowing those about to retire, who under 1996 legislation were forced to enrol into the mixed pension system manged by local private pension fund managers (Afaps), to choose if they would like to remain in that system or migrate their pensions back to the system managed by the state-owned social security bank (BPS).
