DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Death of pregnant teenager prompts review of abortion legislation

A case involving the dead body of a 16-year old pregnant girl, Emely Peguero Polanco, found stuffed in a bag on an estate in the Dominican Republic (DR)’s province of Espaillat, has scandalised Dominican society and renewed calls for the country’s blanket ban on abortion to be lifted.
