In brief: Nicaragua

Nicaragua: Nicaragua’s Vice President Rosario Murillo has announced a new agreement with the Colombian government led by President Juan Manuel Santos regarding the opening of markets between both countries. The announcement was made on the side-lines of the World Trade Organisation (WTO)’s annual ministerial meeting held in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, on 10-13 December. The announcement has been hailed by the Nicaraguan government led by President Daniel Ortega and the private sector as key to the country’s efforts to join the Latin American integration association (Aladi), which currently has as its members Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
