BRAZIL: Shoot-down accord with the US is 'close'

Brasí­lia and Washington are 'close' to a final agreement on the implementation of the former's 'shoot-down' law, according to US ambassador Donna Hrinak. Her announcement came shortly after the Brazilian government issued what appeared to be an ultimatum, setting an August date for the signing of a decree with the detailed regulation of the law, which has been on the statute books since 1998.
