* Ecuador’s energy & non-renewable natural resources ministry has released a statement announcing that multinational mining firm Anglo American has expressed an interest in developing three mining projects in the country. According to the ministerial statement, Anglo American has already signed a joint venture agreement with Canadian mining firm Luminex Resources to develop the ‘Pegasus A’ and ‘Luz’ projects in Cotopaxi province and the ‘Pegasus B’ project in the contiguous Bolívar province. Minister Carlos Pérez said that under the joint venture agreement, Anglo American will have a 60% stake in the ventures and has agreed to invest US$50m in the next seven years to develop the projects which are currently in the exploratory stage.
