NICARAGUA: Probing maritime border disputed with Colombia

If Colombian allegations prove founded, Nicaragua has once again been testing the extent to which it can encroach on Caribbean waters it claims as its own but which are currently controlled by Colombia. Reports about Nicaraguan incursions have prompted Bogotá to send a verification mission to the archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia (SAP), while military authorities in Managua have said they will continue to patrol their own waters.
