* Cuba's foreign trade and investment minister,
Rodrigo Malmierca, has opened the country's fourth investment forum within the framework of the capital Havana’s annual International Trade Fair (Fihav 2019) running from 4-8 November. As part of the inauguration, Malmierca presented the country’s investment opportunities portfolio for 2019-2020, which consists of 460 economic and social investment projects totalling US$11.7bn. Forty-seven of these projects are in the Mariel special development zone (Zedm) aimed at increasing national production levels, boosting growth, and facilitating direct foreign investment. According to Malmierca, this year’s project proposal’s objective is to promote exports and opportunities for production chains.
