In brief: Brazil’s Petrobras starts production on new oil rig

* Brazil’s state-owned oil company Petrobras has announced that it has commenced production at the new 'P-68' platform in the Berbigão 'pre-salt' deep-water oil field in the Santos basin, off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state. This is Petrobras’ fourth platform to come into activity this year. The P-68 has a daily processing capacity of up to 150,000 barrels of oil and compression capacity of up to 6m cubic metres of natural gas. Petrobras says this new oil rig “will contribute to the growth of our production, principally in 2020, with the interconnection of new wells in the Berbigão field and with the interconnection of wells in the Sururu field”.
