COLOMBIA-ECUADOR: Judicial snag slows fast-track rapprochement

This time the moves towards the resumption of diplomatic ties between Ecuador and Colombia appear to be in earnest. A first formal meeting between the two sides has taken place, with a 'road map' prepared and promptly set in motion. Both sides have also been taking practical steps on the sensitive security front which concerns old demands. One obstacle, however, has emerged, in the shape of Ecuadorean judicial proceedings against Colombian officials held responsible for the March 2008 incursion.
