URUGUAY: Senate votes to maintain Manini Ríos’ immunity
On 30 September, Uruguay’s senate voted 16 to 15 against stripping Senator Guido Manini Ríos, from the Cabildo Abierto (CA) party, of his immunity so that he could be investigated in a presumed case of omission over the prosecution of human rights abuses during his time as commander of the army (2015-2019).
