BRAZIL: Fraudsters find opportunities in coronavirus crisis

The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has shaken up all industries, and the criminal one is no exception. The pandemic has allowed organised crime networks, such as the transnational drug trafficking organisations (DTOs) of Mexico and Brazil, to consolidate their power and develop new activities. But it has also opened opportunities for petty criminals, with fraudsters in Brazil seeing new opportunities in the government aid distributed during the pandemic.
