In brief: Remittances to Mexico surge again

*Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has released new figures which show remittances to Mexico totalled US$4.7bn in November, up 37.7% on the same month in 2020. This brings the total for the first eleven months of 2021 to US$46.8bn, a 26.7% increase on the same period in 2020. The number of remittances recorded in 2021 so far exceeds the total received in 2020 (US$40.6bn), meaning that 2021 will be another record year for remittances.
